All the Apple fanboys can protest and whine and post negative fake reviews, but the truth is this product is absolutely incredible.
I have had a zune since the original 40gb model and have upgraded since to the 120 gb and now the HD. I have always loved the zune software and the cool flash-based graphics it plays while listening to your music. I have also owned ipods (most recently a touch, which i took back because it broke and wasn’t compatible with my car stereo. The zune software hands down blows Itunes software away. Its easier to use and it looks better (I had a friend over who was watching me search for music and is an ipod fanboy who grudgingly admitted it was cool.)
The latest Zune 4.0 upgrades make it even easier to use and lend it a Pandora-like "Quickplay" feature. All you have to do is click on a favorite artist or album and it makes a playlist with similar sounding music you can then put on your Zune or listen to on your computer. Oh…and did i mention i only pay $15.00 a month for UNLIMITED downloads of music to my player and computer, and get to keep $10.00 worth of mp3 tracks FOREVER? That effectively makes the subscription cost of this device a mere $5.00 for all the music i can download. Rockin.
As far as the device is concerned I have had mine for 3 days and am in LOVE with this thing. It is feather light, easy to use and absolutely gorgeous. I was at the gym yesterday and had someone come up and ask me if my Zune HD was the new Ipod touch and had to laugh as i told them it was a Microsoft product. This thing definitely fulfills that "cool" factor.
The sound on it is great as well. I plug this into my car stereo and get amazing highs and lows. For such a little player this thing packs some oomph.
And finally the HD radio. I like to listen to the radio in the mornings while i get ready and my little stereo in my bathroom would always get fuzzy. I now listen to the zune using the HD radio option and am amazed at how crystal clear the sound is. Sometime though if you are moving, especially in the car it will break up, which is my only complaint with the radio portion of the device.
Is this an "Ipod killer?" Probably not. But for those of us who want more functionality and ease of use out of their mp3 player with that "cool factor" this is the device for us. If people are coming up to me and asking if it’s an iPod i think Microsoft is going in the right direction

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it’s supposed to do., September 17, 2009

This is a dock. It’s not a Zune HD. No myths to be debunked. Plug your Zune HD into the top. Plug the USB into a live USB port. Many TVs, Satellite receivers and cable boxes now have them. Anything but a PC and the dock will usefully keep your Zune HD charged. If the port is on your PC it’ll charge your Zune HD and let you update it’s content using the Zune software client. Included were cover plates for both older Zunes as well. Add an HDMI cable between this dock and your HDTV to watch 720p video content over that cable from the Zune HD. This is exactly the same dock as is included in the Zune HD A/V dock pack. You simply have to provide your own charging source (USB or AC adapter) and A/V cable to use it for more than simple charging/syncing. Even in your living room, the Zune’s WiFi will let it sync with your PC, so this dock in a living room is a perfect place to keep your Zune up to date and entertaining you. There is also a digital SPDIF connection for your 5.1 A/V receiver should you want to simply enjoy music off your Zune through your home audio system. Remote control included. the Zune HD’s TV interface is a joy to use compared with the TV interface from older Zunes.
Me playing around with my zune (sort of a review) and messing around with the new zune 3.0 software (released 9-16-08)….I dont really start talkng about Zune’s spec till after 2 mins…SORRY!
