At a press event on April 12th Microsoft announced Kin, their new social movement. Featuring both a fresh OS and two brand new touchscreen phones, Kin looks to propel Microsoft into the social age. The software aims to connect users to the friends and media they want to see. I believe Kin is a great first step to bring Microsoft’s business plan into the year 2010 and look forward to seeing the products in person.

PhoneArena reviews Microsoft’s social-centric phones, the KIN ONE and KIN TWO, available through Verizon Wireless. The KIN ONE is a compact device with portrait sliding QWERTY keyboard and a 2.6-inch QVGA display, while the KIN TWO is a side-slider with a larger, 3.4-inch HVGA display. Both handsets run a platform that looks similarly to Windows Phone 7, but is not smart, meaning the user cannot install third-party apps.
This is a video demonstration of the new Twitter app now available for the Zune HD. The video features two Zunes. On one of the ZuneHDs, I download the twitter app over wi-fi. I go over most of the app’s screens and features. One feature that was a little slow was the search functionality. The interface is very similar to other portions of the Zune HD’s twist interface so it has a pretty easy learning curve. Finally, a re-tweet/quote function is not present in this version of the app. Overall what was present in the program worked with nothing broken out the box. Performance, could have been more smooth. This video was recorded with a Canon EOS 7D at 1920×1080, at 24 frames per second. It was then transcoded in Windows Movie Maker to make the file size smaller than 2GB.
